For the past few years I’ve gone on a run on New Year’s Day.
This year, I ran 3.17 miles in 35:47 averaging 11:17 per mile
2021, I ran 3.33 miles in 40:01 averaging 11:59 per mile
2020, I ran 4.44 miles in 53:10 averaging 11:57 per mile
2019, I ran 3.12 miles in 31:31 averaging 10:06 per mile.
So I was faster this year than the last two years, but not even close to my 1/1/2019 time. So there’s a goal for next year. Then again, according to Strava, which has some numbers from around mid-2018 to now (except for a gap in mid-2019 to mid-2021), my fastest 5K is 29:26 run on a 2021 Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day (my total numbers for Strava for that run are 3.14 miles in 30:06 averaging 9:34 per mile). According to my Nike Run Club app, my fastest 5K is 28:55 on March 20, 2020 (though this was on a treadmill and the overall recorded run was 3.22 miles over 31:18 averaging 9:42 per mile—I really slowed down in that last .12 miles).
